Tacos de Carne Asada

Favorite tacos, hands down - tacos de carne asada. One of the things I miss the most about living in Los Angeles is the perfect tacos. Any time I would order tacos in Virginia, I would end up disappointed. The steak would be too tough, too dry, or the chunks would be cut up too big that I would get tired of chewing. Finally, I just started making my own tacos at home. This recipe is super easy! (No, I don’t make my own tortillas!) I like to cook the steak in my slow cooker to make sure it turns out super tender and juicy. You can top with homemade chile (like the one in the Huevo con Chile recipe), or use my store bought favorite, Herdez guacamole salsa.

Para la carne…

First, you need to brown the meat in a large pan over medium high heat before putting it in the slow cooker.

While the meat is browning in the pan season with garlic salt, seasoned salt, and cumin.

Once all the meat is browned throw into your slow cooker. Add 1/2 sliced white onion, and 1 can of El Pato salsa. This salsa gives the steak great flavor plus little spice. Cook on high for 2 hours and 30 minutes. Make sure to stir occasionally and add more seasoning as needed.

For the extras….

Chop up onions and cilantro. Slice the radishes and cucumber.

The onion and cilantro should be very finely chopped and I like to mix them together in the same container.

Once the meat is done cooking, start heating up the tortillas. I prefer to double up the tortillas (helps so your taco doesn’t break easily!)

Also, my family loves this Herdez guacamole salsa! It isn’t very spicy just creamy and delicious!

Build your tacos: Tortilla, steak, onion & cilantro, guacamole salsa. Serve with limes, radish and cucumber.

A cold Sangria is the perfect drink to accompany these tacos! Buen provecho!
